Curried Grilled Cheese - The Cheese Shark

Create a delicious grown up style grilled cheese. Using curried onions, mayonnaise and your choice of cheese, you can great a gourmet style lunch. Try it out with your homemade cheese!

Curried Grilled Cheese


  • 6 teaspoons of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 a yellow onion, sliced thin
  • 1 teaspoon curry of powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise
  • 100 grams/ 3.5 oz of thickly sliced cheese of your choice (I like using Havarti)
  • 4 slices of gluten-free or whole wheat bread

  • Add 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a frying pan. Heat on medium-high heat.
  • Add onions, curry powder and salt.
  • Sauté until onions are soft, about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.

  • Spread mayonnaise on one side of each piece of bread. Layer with cheese slices and sautéed onions.

  • Preheat a second, clean frying pan on medium heat.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of olive oil and allow to heat for 1 minute.
  • Place sandwich in the oil and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove sandwich from pan, add another 1 teaspoon of oil, flip sandwich and lay in the pan, uncooked side down.
  • Repeat with second sandwich
