Raclette Grill Reviews
A raclette grill can be a once in a lifetime investment. We got ours for our wedding almost 30 years ago, and we use it on a regular basis. It still looks and works great. In my opinion, it pays off to buy a unit from a high quality brand that suits your needs and expectations. I have chosen 3 table top grills, 1 mini grill, and a traditional style melter. They are all high quality and aesthetically pleasing. I really like the granite tops. Compared to any type of coating, granite never wears and always looks classy.

Swissmar KF-77081 8-Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Granite Stone
Swissmar is a great brand. You can’t go wrong with any grill from this company. This is a large grill that serves 8, but it works just as well for 2 people. I like the large grills. They give you the option to throw a dinner party. The granite top is awesome. Granite never wears and always looks great. Non-stick coatings can get damaged. The unit comes with durable plastic scrapers. Some people prefer wood scrapers, but I find they lose their appearance after a while. For a medium size family and the flexibility to entertain guests, this is a great grill that will last a lifetime.
Swissmar KF-77073 Swivel 8-Person Raclette with Cast Aluminum and Granite Stone Grill Top
This is a really cool unit. You pay a bit extra for the special features. It’s an 8 person unit, and comes with durable plastic scrapers. The unique feature of this grill is that it has a granite grill on one side and a non-stick metal grill on the other. This is great when you prefer to cook veggies away from meats, especially for vegetarians. Designate the one side to veggies and the other side to meats. Another cool feature is that you can fold and unfold the unit. It can be one long grill, stretching from one side of the table to the other, or you can fold it back so it is a short, compact unit. The downside of this grill is that there is only an on/off switch and no way to control the temperature. The two grill sides do have their own on and off switch. Overall, it’s a classy unit that has a great design and very versatile use.
Swissmar 8 Person Matterhorn Raclette Party Grill with Wood Base Granite Stone Grill Top
This is one of my favourite raclette grills. I love the round form and the wooden base. It’s a very classy unit. It serves 8 and has the granite top, but also comes in a non-stock metal grill version. The unit works best on round tables, if you are using a square table it can be a challenge to reach the pans.
NutriChef Electric Raclette Cheese Melter Machine – Table Top & Stainless Steel
I am not familiar with this brand but this type of raclette melter works great for an informal party where people can snack and graze while socializing. This unit is designed, like the original raclette, to melt the first layer of a cut cheese wheel. You need an operator who scrapes the melted cheese off the cheese block onto people’s plates. See our post about entertaining with raclette. It is a slow process which can be entertaining in a party setting. It is a great feature for bbqs or parties where people keep eating small amounts over an extended period of time. Although this unit may not be practical for unplanned family meals, it is a good looking melter that is easy to clean and definitely fun to have for special events.
A raclette grill or melter is a great investment. Buy a good brand and you will enjoy it for many years to come. People often think of raclette as a party meal, but it is also a great meal to make for yourself or your family in a very short amount of time, with minimal work. Remember to experiment with different cheeses, toppings and condiments. Have fun!
