How to Make Paneer at Home - The Cheese Shark

This is a tasty appetizer that goes well with beer or white wine. Serves 4. Try it out with your homemade Paneer!

Crispy Paneer Sticks with Peanut Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 250 g/ 1/2 lb of paneer cut into strips 
  • ¾ cup of white flour
  • 1 tsp of freshly grated ginger
  • 1 pressed garlic
  • ½  tsp of yellow curry powder 
  • 1 tbsp of chopped cilantro, fresh or dried
  • ½  tsp of baking soda
  • ½ tsp of cayenne pepper (or to your taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Frying oil of your choice
  • ¾ cup cold water

Procedure:

  • Mix all the dry ingredients, then add the water to make a batter.
  • Heat the oil in a frying pan. Dip the paneer strips into the batter, covering the cheese strips generously. Fry until golden brown. Place on a paper towel to dry.

Peanut Butter dipping sauce:

  • 1 tbsp of sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp of canola, sunflower or grapeseed oil
  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp of sweet chili sauce (I use the Thai Sweet Chili)
  • 3 tbsp of smooth peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp of lime juice

Mix well with a whisk, place in a small bowl, and serve with the paneer sticks. Add vegetables of your choice for dipping.
